Info Graphic / Data Visualization

The newspaper article I chose is called “A Tower with a View” and it was published Wednesday, September 26th, 2018 in the Business & Finance section of The Wall Street Journal by Peter Santilli. The article is very short and is about the construction of two new skyscrapers that will have observation decks, and how they will compare to other towers in New York City. First it has a statistical digital graphic loosely based on a bar graph. It depicts the One World Trade Center, the Empire State Building, and 30 Rockefeller Plaza in black to show that they are existing towers. Beneath each graphic are statistics about each tower height, it's opening date, and how many people visit yearly. The One Vanderbilt and 30 Hudson Yards towers are depicted in orange to show they are under construction. They are all drawn to compare the scale of each building. Below, there is a cityscape graphic with all of the towers shown where they are located in the city. All of the unimportant info, the surrounding buildings and neighborhoods, are shown in light blue. I think the graphics communicate the information clearly in a visually pleasing and easy to understand way.
